Expectedly, seeded players including defending champion Aditi Ashok and Gurbani Singh entered the quarter-finals of the Usha All India Ladies matchplay championships at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Thursday.

Aditi registered a comfortable 5 and 3 win over fellow Bengalurean, Anisha Padukone, while arch-rival, Gurbani, from Delhi also moved up with a 3 and 1 victory against another Bengaluru golfer Ankita Kedalya.
In case both Aditi and Gurbani win their quarter-finals, they will clash in the semi-finals, which will decide the Order of Merit winner.
A minor upset came when Seher Atwal beat Amandeep Drall 3 and 2, while Ridhima Dilawari defeated Nikita Arjun 3 and 2.
Millie Saroha had the toughest time beating underdog Shruti Naik 2-up on the 18th. Tvesa Malik stretched Raksha Phadke to the 18th before the latter won 1-up.
Low-key Jaipreet Ghuman sank a bunch of birdies to beat Astha Madan 3 and 2, while Gursimar Badwal rallied from a three-hole deficit after seven to win 3 and 2 on the 16th.
Local favourite Aditi had the upper hand right from the start. She was 4 up after 9 holes, though neither player had any birdies. Aditi finally clinched the match on the 15th hole, 5 and 3. Nikita Arjun started off well to go one up after a beautiful birdie on the 8th, but Ridhima found her form on the back nine with a birdie and six pars to win 3 and 2. Ankita, meanwhile, gave Gurbani a run for her money before the latter held her nerve to win the match 3 and 1.
Millie had a tough time against the unheralded Shruti. Millie, with three birdies, had a gross score of one-under in 18 holes, even as Shruti carded a level par round.
Quarters line-up: Aditi Ashok vs Seher Atwal, Ridhima Dilawari vs Gurbani Singh, Millie Saroha vs Raksha Phadke, Gursimar Badwal vs Jaipreet Ghuman
