Home in One awaits golfers

The Panasonic Open India will witness a historic first, where an apartment awaits the first player who aces the par-three 17th hole on the final day of the third edition of the Asian Tour event at the Delhi Golf Club.

Sponsored by Homestead, a leading property developer, the luxury apartment is a unit at the Michael Schumacher World Tower located in the heart of Gurgaon.
Manoj Shrivastava of Homestead Infrastructure Development said, “In the history of professional golf, the prize amount for the ‘hole in one’ has never been greater than the prize money of the entire tournament.”
The third edition of the full-field Tour event tees off on Thursday and promises to showcase the region’s best golfers in action as they vie for top honours.
The local charge will be spearheaded by Jeev Milkha Singh, Asia’s number one in 2006 and 2008, with Anirban Lahiri and Digvijay Singh, winners of the event in 2011 and 2012, respectively, boosting the home challenge.
Former Ryder Cup star Oliver Wilson of England will be aiming to replicate his European form on Asian soil and will be among the contenders from the star-studded field that also include Thailand’s Boonchu Ruangkit and Mohammad Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh, who has already enjoyed two top-five finishes in six starts this season.
The top-three players at the Panasonic Open India will be invited to the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour Organisation, in Osaka, Japan in September.
The Homestead group has been known for its brand association with faces from the international sports world including F1 legend Michael Schumacher and tennis star Maria Sharapova.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
