Kapil is opening day leader
Delhi’s Kapil Kumar shot a five-under 67 to take the lead in the opening round of the PGTI Feeder Tour event at the Aravalli Golf Club in Faridabad.
Local lad Abhinav Lohan was one shot behind with a round of four-under 68, that included six birdies and two bogeys.
Kapil started off bright as he reached the green on the par-5 third hole in two shots. Even though he missed a 10-footer for an eagle, he salvaged a birdie on the hole.
The 20-year-old then drove the green on the par-4 ninth to add another birdie to his card, before setting up another 10-foot eagle putt on the 12th thanks to some excellent driving.
He managed to pick up a birdie on the 12th and added two more to his card with a couple of good chip shots on the 16th and 18th holes. “I’ve been in good form with the driver over the last few events. I drove the ball really well today and therefore set up a couple of eagle putts from 10 feet. I’m carrying forward the confidence after posting two top-20s this season,” said Kapil after his round on Tuesday.
Kapil’s fellow golfer Wasim Khan and Arjun Singh Chaudhri of Noida shared the third spot with three-under 69.
