Lohan to lead local challenge
The Professional Golf Tour of India has announced the fourth event of the 2012 Feeder Tour season which will start at the Aravalli Golf Club in Faridabad from Tuesday.
The three-day tournament carries a total prize purse of Rs 6 lakh.
“The PGTI Feeder Tour event will give a further boost to professional golf in Faridabad and Haryana,”said PGTI director Padamjit Sandhu in the capital on Monday.
The tournament will have a field of 72 players and will be held over three rounds of 18 holes each with the cut being applied after 36 holes.
Asian Games silver medalist Abhinav Lohan will lead the local challenge.
The other big name in the field is former Indian Open champion Ali Sher. The current Order of Merit leader is Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan of Delhi with earnings of Rs 1,08,490 for the season.
“We are delighted to have the Feeder Tour event at the Aravalli Golf Club. The course is in good shape and we expect three days of top quality golfing action. The facilities provided by the club have helped produce a lot of young golfing talent in Faridabad in recent years. We are confident that tournaments staged by the PGTI will further help in promoting professional golf in this region,” said officiating secretary of the Aravalli Golf Club, N.S. Rawat.
