Nalini holds on to narrow lead
Delhi girl Nalini Singh Siwach kept her hold on the leaderboard defying veteran Smriti Mehra at the end of the second round of the Hero-WGAI Women’s Pro Tour in Srinagar on Wednesday.
The duo shot an identical two-under 70 on the day, meaning Nalini is still leading by one shot, her overnight lead.
The 23-year-old Nalini had three birdies and one bogey, while Smriti had four birdies and two bogeys on the day. Nalini totals 143 as compared to Smriti’s 144.
Neha Tripathi (73) and Vani Kapoor (73) were following the duo on the leaderboard with 149 and 150. This season, the first three events have been won by different golfers and Nalini has placed herself well to be the fourth going into the third round.
Saaniya Sharma shot a creditable round at even par 72 following her 79 on first day and moved to fifth place at 151.
Nalini, who won three times on the tour in the past season, is yet to register a win this season. She had a string of five pars before finding her first birdie on the sixth. She dropped her only shot of the day at eighth, and then added further birdies on 10th and 13th and ended at 70.
