Phatlum eyes third Indian Open title
Thai Pornanong Phatlum is all set for a grand performance in the Hero Women’s Indian Open, beginning at the DLF Golf Country Club in Gurgaon on Friday.
Phatlum, a winner here in 2008 and 2009, is gunning for a title that would make her the first to achieve the feat.
Making her fifth appearance at the event, the 23-year-old from Chaiyaphun, a satellite town in north Thailand, said: “There’s no pressure on me. My game is on song and I like playing in India. There is a chance for me to go for my third win, this explains why I’m here to make it happen.”
Having played 27 events on the USLPGA this season, Phatlum only missed the weekend rounds six times.
“Playing in the USLPGA has made me a better player. The courses are tough, the greens are sleek and tough and there are good players,” said Phatlum, who won the LPGA Brasil Cup 2012 and recording a T12 and T14 positions at the LPGA Classic and LPGA respectively.
Looking more mature since earning a card to play on the USLPGA two seasons ago, the pretty Phatlum hinted that her game was strong.
“But don’t forget, there are other strong players taking part in this event too. It holds a special place in my heart because I have won it twice. I hope my form and mental strength will help me win once more to put my name on the record books.”
