Smriti sweeps to Tollygunge title

Veteran Smriti Mehra sealed her first title of the season with a comprehensive 13-stroke victory in the second leg of the Hero WPGT 2013 at the Tollygunge Golf Club in Kolkata on Thursday.

Smriti carded a two under 68 on the final day and finished with a total score of 203 for her win.
Sharmila Nicollet (71), fourth after the second round, came back strongly to finish joint second with Vani Kapoor (72) with a total score of 216.
Smriti has been very consistent in this leg reflecting in the fact that she was the only player to have under par scores (67-68-68) on all three days.
She carded birdies on the 6th, 7th , 13th and 15th holes on Thursday.
Sharmila, who is returning after an injury, hit an eagle at the 10th which helped her finish second along with Vani, who had a lone birdie on the 9th.
Neha Tripathi, winner of the first leg finished fourth with a triple bogey at the 12th hole and a total score of 219.
Rani Sonti (223) was fifth and Ankita Tiwana grabbed sixth place with 227.
The next leg will be played at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Mumbai.
