Top cities to square off
The battle for the country’s dominant golfing city will be played out at at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida when the second edition of the `1.2 crore prize money Louis Philippe Cup Golf tournament tees off from February 11 to 16.
The franchise-based tournament will see nine city based teams square off in a league-cum-knock out format with some of the biggest names in Indian golf vying for the winner’s purse of Rs 36 lakh.
The participating cities this year are Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Noida, Ahmedabad and the latest inclusion, Greater Noida- competing for a total prize money purse of Rs, 1.20crores.
The teams have been named AVT Kolkata, Take Solutions Chennai, Puravankara Bangalore, DLF Gurgaon, Dev Ellora Chandigarh, Shubhkamna Noida, Navratna Ahmedabad and Jaypee Greens Greater Noida.
The Delhi team’s sponsors will be announced soon.
The format of the four day event features two days (36 holes) stroke play in which all teams will compete. The four teams with the best total team scores will advance to the semi-finals.
From the semi-finals onwards the top four teams will play a knockout. One-on-one matches between the three players of each team will earn each team one point for a win.
The winners take home `36 lakhs, runners-up `24 lakhs, third place `18 lakhs and fourth `12 lakhs.
