According to recent surveys, millions of bacteria are found on the surface of the fitness equipment used in fitness centres. And if you’re one of those who has taken a resolution to be a gym regular this year, here are some tips that will help you ensure you don’t call in ‘sick’ at the gym.
l It might sound paranoid — but carry anti-bacterial wipes and use them to wipe any common surface before you use it in the gym.
l Shower immediately after you workout, don’t wait till you get home. Even a quick five minute shower is fine, you can have a leisurely one later. This helps to get rid of the bacteria instantly.
l Wear good quality, covered footwear for all-round protection.
l Carry your own water and hand sanitiser.
l Ensure that the gym you visit practices a high quality of hygiene standards.
