Big win for Mizoram boys

Mizoram’s Government High School rode on Ramdintluanga’s six goals to blank Motilal Nehru School of Sports of Rai 11-0 in a Pool E match of the 30th Nehru sub-junior boys hockey tournament in the capital on Monday.

Lalrinfela opened the account in the fourth minute for the Mizoram outfit. Ramdintluanga posted three goals in each half (6th, 16th, 21st, 39th, 46th, 48th minutes), while Laltanpuia (17th) and Vanroluaha (27th) were the others to score in the first half as the team took a 6-0 lead. Hmangaihzuala added to the tally after the change of ends, while Lalremsanga completed the rout in the 52nd minute.
In another one-sided match of the day, Directorate General, NCC, hammered Shri KN Shah Modasa High School from Gujarat 9-0 in Pool A, while the Lucknow-based Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Kursi Road, proved too hot for St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School of Shillong. The Lucknow outfit won 6-0 in the Pool D.
NCC’s Harprit Singh scored a hat-trick while Rahul Kumar and Shubham added two goals each. Ramandeep and Lovish Dubey also added one each.
For the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Mohammad Sadiq (9th, 40th, 50th minutes) was the star performer with three goals. Mustak Ahmad (17th), Rahul Verma (28th) and Rajiv Ranjan (44th) scored one apiece.
Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School from Modern Gram, Ludhiana, registered a thumping 8-2 win over the Gurgaon-based Government Boys School in Pool B. Lovepreet Singh struck a hat-trick for the winners.
In other matches of the day Combined One Thousand Hockey Legs of Delhi pipped Kolkata’s Entally Academy 2-1 in Pool C while Army Boys Sports Company, ASC Centre and College, Bengaluru, defeated Alwar’s Oswal Jain Senior Secondary School 5-1. Anub Minj scored four goals for the Bengaluru outfit.
