Big wins for Manipur, NCC boys

One-sided matches marked Day Two of the 30th Nehru sub-junior boys hockey tournament in the capital on Saturday.

Konjeng Government Junior High School of Bishnupur, Manipur, registered the day’s biggest win, thrashing Government JRD High School, Durg, 16-1. M. Dinesh Singh slammed in four goals for the winners.
In another match, Simdega-based St. Mary High School hammered Government Higher Secondary School of Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, 9-0. The winners took a 3-0 lead in the first half, and pumped in six more in the latter half to complete the rout.
Hockey Village, Dausa — first time participants at the event — were handed a 10-0 hammering by NCC, Directorate. Harprit Singh scored a double for NCC, while Subhkarman, Rahul Kumar, Gagan, Ravi, Gaurav, Lovish Dubey and Piyush scored once each, besides an own goal.
Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, enjoyed an easy outing against St. Anthony’s High School of Goa, beating them 10-1. Skipper Sachin Dhankar contributed three goals.
Earlier, Guru Gobind Singh Sports College from Lucknow defeated Guru Harkrishan Memorial High School of Jammu, 5-1.
In the day’s last match, Ahmednagar’s Gautam Public School beat Shri KN Shah Madosa High School, Gujarat, 7-0. Shubham Chopra and Pawar Bhagwan scored a brace each for the winners.
