Indian women finish 3rd
The Indian women’s hockey team finished on a winning note as they thrashed Ireland 6-0 in their last match of the four-nation tournament in Essen, Germany, on Monday.
Skipper Surender Kaur led from the front scoring three goals in the 9th, 23rd and 32nd minutes.
Jasjeet Kaur Handa (18th, 52nd) struck a brace while Deepika Thakur accounted for a penalty corner goal in the 48th minute. India ended their engagements with one victory, a draw and a loss to finish third.
Australia won the tournament with seven points, while Germany were second second with five points.
