Jharkhand enter final
Jharkhand beat Mizoram 3-0 in the semi-finals of the 3rd Hockey India sub-junior men’s national championship (East Zone) at Nagaon, Assam, on Friday.
Sudhir Munda opened the scoring for Jharkhand in the 32nd minute, and quick goals from Joseph Nag and Petrus Tiru in the 57th and 59th minutes respectively, helped the team cruise into the final.
Odisha take on Manipur in the second semi-final to be played on Sunday.
In the women’s event, Jharkhand set up a title clash with Odisha.
Jharkhand rode a Pramila Soreng hat-trick to rout Bengal 9-0 in the first semi-final. Nisha Rani (2), Betan Dung Dung (2), Ebha Kerketta (1) and Divya Dung Dung (1) were the other goal-scorers. Odisha beat Assam 6-0 in the second semi-final, with a brace each from Anjlina Minz and Elima Minz.
