Minz strike seals it for PNB, Air India win

Action from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey league match between PNB XI and Army XI in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Punjab and National Bank XI downed Army XI 4-2 (3-3) in a penalty shootout in their league match of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium in the capital on Tuesday.

PNB were ahead 3-1 in the shootout as Ajitesh Roy, Jalwinder Singh and Ranjeet Singh converted the first three shots, while Ignace Tirkey and Mukesh Lakra missed out for Army XI. A Hardeep Singh miss saw Army XI in with a chance as Chitaranjan and Eliazer Lakra found the target for them, before Mathsas Minz sealed the deal for the bankmen with the final chance, making it 4-2.
In another match, Air India pipped Punjab & Sind Bank 1-0. Darshan D.A. scored the winner in the 19th minute.
On Wednesday, Air India take on Indian Navy, while Army XI face Indian Air Force.
