Rohtak boys blank Modipur Academy
Government Senior Secondary School from Meham in Rohtak blanked Dayawati Modi Academy, Modipur, 15-0 in the 41st Nehru junior boys hockey (U-17) tournament at the Shivaji Stadium on Tuesday.
Dharmender and Rajant scored three goals each inside the first 20 minutes of the game to give their team a solid grip on the match. The Rohtak boys started in a belligerent fashion with Rajant sounding the boards through a quick move in the very first minute. Following Rajant’s strike, Dharemder pumped in three field goals in a space of six minutes to make the scoreline 4-0. The intial spurt provided by the duo saw the Rohtak team lead 6-0 by the 17th minute of the game. At the break, they led 8-0 and it became a question of the margin by which they will win the contest.
In the later stages, it was Sumit (3 goals) and Kamal (2), who troubled the Modi Academy defence with their repeated attacks. Modi Academy’s defence showed some resilience in the last 21 minutes not conceding any goals but it came too late.
The other two matches on the day also produced results with big winning margins. Khajamian Higher Secondary School, Trichy, thumped Sarveshwar Das Senior Secondary School, Chhattisgarh, by the same margin as the Rohtak boys while Army Boys Sports Company, Bengaluru, won 11-0 against Government High School, Kurai.
