Shahabad girls dominate

Government Girls Senior Secondary School from Shahabad handed a 21-0 hammering to Vidya Devi Jindal School of Hisar in their Super League encounter of the 19th Nehru junior girls hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium in the capital on Saturday.

The Shahabad girls dominated from the word go, and were up 11-0 in the first half itself. Manjit Kaur pumped in six goals, while Amrinder struck five. Skipper Reet scored a hat-trick, while Sakshi (two), Navpreet (two), Gagan (two) and Kajal were the other goal-scorers. In another match, Government Lallengvunga High School of Mizoram registered an 11-4 win over New English Girls School and Junior College of Nool, Maharashtra. F. Lalawmpui of the Mizoram School stood out with three goals. In the day’s last match, Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School of Chandigarh edged past Haryana’s Tika Ram Girls Senior Secondary School 1-0. Skipper Manjeet Kaur scored the winner in the 43rd minute.
