Top court wants clear picture on CWG squads
New Delhi, Aug. 25: Even as the confusion prevailed on selection of both men and women hockey teams for the Commonwealth Games due to the ongoing intense legal battle between Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federation, the Supreme Court on Wednesday gave the government time till August 27 to make its stand clear on the issue.
Since the world body — Federation of International Hockey (FIH) — has set a deadline of August 28 for selection of the teams by the participating countries, a bench of Justices R.V. Raveendran and H.L. Gokhale, already seized of the hockey imbroglio case, fixed the hearing for August 27 to pass some interim order.
Earlier, it was only due to the apex court’s interim order of August 17 that HI was allowed to send Indian women hockey tem to Argentina to participate in the World Cup.
