We’ve resources to win Asia cup, says Sardar
India hockey skipper Sardar Singh welcomed the inclusion of M.K. Kaushik as national coach, following the recent ouster of Australian Michael Nobbs.
“The country has good coaches, there is no doubt about it. Kaushik sir is a very good coach. He doesn’t have to prove it to anyone. It was a good decision to bring him in,” Sardar was quoted as saying on Friday.
Kaushik will work under high performance director Roelant Oltmans of Holland, who will also assume the duties of a chief coach till the crucial Asia Cup next month. A win will guarantee India a berth in next year’s World Cup in Holland.
“It (winning the Asia Cup) is something which is not impossible. We have the resources to win the Asia Cup. But for that to happen every player needs to realise his mistakes and work hard on them in the coming six weeks,” the 25-year-old midfielder said.
“We cannot be over confident going into any match. We will have to play consistent hockey for the entire 70 minutes, and only then will the results follow.”
