Akon sued for unpaid bill
Akon is being sued for breach of contract over unpaid building work. The Lonely hitmaker has reportedly failed to pay the final installment of construction bills on his mansion in Georgia, totalling $51,941, so the contracting company are taking him to court.
Southern Electric filed the lawsuit against Akon in Georgia Superior Court, claiming it completed over $344,000 of work on his house — including electric work, framing, molding — but he refused to pay the final invoice.
According to the suit, Southern Electric contacted Akon’s mother, who was acting as his agent in the deal, last November, but they have still not received anything.
So they’re now suing for breach of contract for the amount allegedly owed, plus interest. In 2008, Akon was sentenced to 65 hours of community service for harassing a fan.
The Senegalese-born rapper pleaded guilty to throwing a teenage boy off stage during a New York concert in 2007 and was told he would avoid jail by completing the community service and paying a $250 fine.
Akon, real name Aliaune Thiam, shook hands with the now victim Anthony Smith after entering his plea and apologised to him and his parents, but refused to comment on his sentence
