JLo empowered by childbirth
Jennifer Lopez says giving birth is the most âempoweringâ thing she has done. The 41-year-old singer-and-actress was inspired to launch her own charitable organisation The Maribel Foundation, which is named after her husband Marc Anthonyâs sister, who died from a brain tumour, after giving birth to twins Max and Emme, now three.
She said, âWhatâs the most empowering thing Iâve ever done? Probably giving birth. And as a direct result of that, setting up a charity with my sister Lynda. It was a dream we had for a long time. Once we had babies we were ready to say, âLetâs do itâ. Weâre not claiming to change the world in one day, weâre just going to do our little part. We always said weâd help women and childrenâs health and education and now itâs happening.â
Jennifer also believes that the more women are happy with themselves, the more likely they are to take an interest in their appearance. She said, âA part of how you take care of yourself on the outside reflects how you feel within. If you become empowered on the inside, it will get reflected on the outside. I donât believe for one second thatâs a superficial thing, it is important.â
