12-year-old boy kills classmate

A Class VIII student of a private school died after he was hit on the head with a stone by his classmate, following a quarrel on Thursday evening. The incident took place during the annual day programme of the New Little Scholar School in Kismatpur.

According to Rajendra-nagar police inspector S. Jayaram, the students, both aged 12, had a scuffle, after which one of them — Sai Kishore — was found lying inert on the floor. Witnesses said that Sai Kishore had slapped his classmate, who, in a fit of rage, retaliated by a throwing a stone. Sai Kishore, who got hit, fell down unconscious. He was first shifted to a nearby private hospital and later to Yashoda hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following a complaint by the school authorities, the Rajendranagar police have booked the student for murder.

The body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem after which legal opinion will be sought and a decision taken on whether the student ought to be arrested, the inspector said.

Sai Kishore’s father Ravinder works as a constable in Shivarampally police station while his classmate’s father is a Central government employee.
