2-yr-old looking for his mother
The children of the Indian couple, V. Chandrasekhar and Anupama, who were arrested in Norway ostensibly for ‘tiger-mom-type’ parenting under the Norwegian Child Welfare law, were found to be emotionally healthy and not unduly affected by their parents’ threats or scoldings.
Two-and-a-half-year-old V. Abhiram, the couple’s youngest son, kept looking for his mother in every woman who visited his grandparents’ house in Miyapur. The elder one, V. Sri Sai Ram, was sent to attend Creek Planet School in Madinaguda on Satur-day to make him feel things were ‘normal’.
Anupama’s father L. Veerabhadra Rao said, “Sai Ram is baffled by the development and started brooding about it, while Abhiram is searching for his mother. I am afraid if he doesn’t see his parents for some more days, it will impact his condition. My daughter Anupama used to treat them with love.”
Dr Kalyan Chakravarthy, the doctor who is treating Sai Ram, said, “I had eight extended interviews with the boy and parents. There is no abuse, as such, and there is an emotional attachment between the boy and his parents, though he said his parents threatened and scolded him. He was responding to the treatment. But there has been a setback because the mother is away.”
The couple’s friends working in Norway, said, “Chandrasekhar and his wife have respected the law in Norway, they came when summoned. But they aren’t getting the same support from the law here.”
Meanwhile, Chandrase-khar’s relatives met Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and submitted a representation on Saturday. The CM has assured them that the government will take all the steps to help get the couple out of jail.
