400 MW loss: Centre takes gas out of AP
The Centre has decided to divert some more Reliance gas from the state to Ratnagiri Gas and Power, a private plant in Maharashtra, further deepening the power crisis in the state.
The state is getting 3.48 million metric standard cubic metre per day (mmscmd) gas from Reliance against the committed 6.8 mmscmd and there will be a shortfall of another 2 mmscmd.
“This will result in a shortage of 400 MW power in addition to the existing shortage of 1,470 MW,” sources in the government told this newspaper.
Ironically, Union petroleum minister S. Jaipal Reddy, who hails from the state, issued the orders diverting gas to the neighbouring state.
