7 bodies found floating in lake
In what looked like a family suicide pact, six floating bodies — three each women and children —have been recovered from Saroornagar lake. The bodies had their hairs tied to one another, police said, adding it appeared they jumped to the lake by holding their hands together. Another body of a 40-year-old man, was recovered from the lake in the evening, but police believe this was a separate case. Two of the women were aged between 35 and 50, while the third between 20 and 25 and the three children aged around 8. The locals who noticed the floating bodies called in the police at around 9.30 am. The identification of the bodies has not been done, as no one among the locals could recognise them. Nor was there any clue left behind.
Preliminary investigations by the police show the six might have ended their lives at least three days ago and possibly belonged to the same family. The bodies were being kept at the Osmania General Hospital morgue. J. Amarendar Reddy, ACP, LB Nagar, said the police recovered the bodies with the help of trained swimmers. The bodies were floating toward the Dhobi Ghat side. “We are waiting for someone to identify the bodies, till which time, they will be kept in the morgue,” he said.
Police said that no missing case had been registered in the Cyberabad limits in the last few days. The photo of one of the bodies, that was somewhat identifiable, was pasted on walls in areas like Amberpet, Meerpet, Hayatnagar etc, to make identification possible. The other five bodies were beyond recognition, police said.
