7-yr-old detained for not paying fee
A seven-year-old student was reportedly detained by the school principal when her parents did not pay the term fees on time. This led to a heated argument between the child’s parents and the school management on Friday. The parents were upset, accusing the school principal of using crude language.
According to the Osmania police, A. Manichandana, a Class II student of Sri Sai Public School, Habsiguda, was detained on Saturday by school principal B. Vija-ya Naidu. She was made to wait for one-and-a-half hours for not paying the second term fees of Rs 2,500. A. Bhasker, the student’s father, said, “On Saturday, the principal had asked my child and several other students who had not paid the second term fees to stay back. My child fell ill following this and could not attend school. On Friday, when I questioned the management, the principal used foul language and asked me to get out.”
Ms Vijaya Naidu denied this. “I did not use vulgar language. The reason for holding back the students was to meet their parents and inform them about the pending dues. The kids were made to sit in the principal’s office and provided with snacks,” she said. No case has been booked against the principal or management, police said.
