ACB arrests 4, scribes to be issued notices
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested four liquor syndicate leaders in connection with the benami transactions using white ration card holders. Earlier, on June 6 this year, the ACB had arrested 20 persons. The ACB has also decided to issue notices to journalists who were named by liquor syndicates for taking bribes. It has so far issued notices to around 20 politicians and their relatives.
According to ACB director-general B. Prasada Rao, the arrested have been identified as G. Hanumanthu Rao of Palakole syndicate in West Godavari district, D. Butchi Babu, manager of Vizianagaram syndicate, L. Santosh Reddy of Bhodan syndicate in Nizamabad and G. Ajay Goud of Hyderabad. The accused were sent to judicial remand. Meanwhile, in the ACB report submitted to the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the agency gave information on arrests, issuance of notices and the stage of the probe.
