Aged couple murdered, house looted
In a gruesome incident, an old couple – D.K. Murthy Chetty, 70, and Ramadevi, 65 – was brutally murdered at their house in Gajjalavaripalle village of Chowdepalle mandal in the early hours of Monday.
The couple had been living in the village since two decades, and their three daughters were married a decade ago. Murthy Chetty runs a fair price shop at Kolimpalle village in the same mandal. He also has a money lending and pawn brokering business.
Going by the scene of the murder, the police said that the culprits could have thoroughly watched the couple for a long time before executing the double murder. Being an elderly person Chetty was entrusted with the job of regulating the power supply for the regular water connection to the neighborhood by the civic body.
Police believe the attackers might have entered the house when Chetty came out to look after the water supply. After opening the almirah and some trunks, the culprits plundered everything available, and slit the throat of the woman inside the house. They killed the man outside the house.
The predawn double murder came to light around noon when the couple’s relatives asked a youth named Ramesh of the village to pass some information to them, as the couple’s mobile phones were not answering. The youth who noticed the murders alerted neighbors. The police used sniffer dogs and forensic experts, but they could not collect any clues.

The bodies were sent to the area hospital for autopsy and a case was registered.
