AP cautions fishermen over deep depression in Bay of Bengal
Following deep depression over East-Central Bay of Bengal, the Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday issued a caution warning for the fishermen.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the depressed laid centres at 11.30 am on Sunday at about 900 km east-northeast of Chennai, 550 km east-southeast of Visakhapatnam and 500 km southeast of Paradip.
The IMD said that the system would intensify further into a cyclonic storm and move slowly westwards during next 12 hours and west-southwestwards towards south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coast during subsequent 72 hours.
Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat on Sunday, Disaster Management Commissioner T Radha said that as per the IMD, no adverse weather was likley along and off east coast of India during the next 48 hours. However, fishermen along north Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea during this period.
Radha said that the situation was continuously being monitored and alerts would be issued, as and when required, based on the findings of the IMD.
