Arrest warrant against SCB chief for contempt of court
The AP High Court has issued an arrest warrant against the Secunderabad Cantonment Board CEO, Mr S. Balakrishna, for contempt of court. Responding to a petition filed by Suresh K. Gubrani, the HC issued an arrest warrant and also directed the city police commissioner to arrest Mr Balakrishna and produce him physically under safe custody before the HC on July 17, at 10.30 am.
The court further directed the police commissioner that if Mr Balakrishna furnishes a bail amount of Rs 5,000 with two sureties of Rs 5,000 and an undertaking that he will appear before the court on July 17, he may be released on bail. However, he will have to continue attending court until otherwise directed. Mr Gubrani constructed a house at Panchavati Colony, Tokatta in SCB limits. However, SCB authorities issued notices to him for deviations in construction. According to Mr Gubrani, he had responded to the notices on time. In the meantime, Mr Gubrani’s daughter and son-in-law moved into the new house. On May 26, the SCB said they will seal the house and on May 28 the house was sealed.
“After my house was sealed I approached the HC and got a stay on May 30. However, the seal was not removed. I then filed a petition against the CEO,” said Mr Gubrani. Mr Balakrishna, refused to discuss the matter.
