Babus out on bail may seek reinstatement
Acharya and Y. Srilakshmi arrested in the CBI cases out on bail, the focus is now on the government revoking their suspension.
The IAS lobby is said to have been working out with the government the possibilities of revoking the suspension. Sources told this newspaper that the two officers have to make a formal request seeking revocation.
“The officers have to apply to the government which in turn will seek the opinion of the Department of Personnel and Training at the Centre,” a senior official said. Under normal circumstances, the government will have to review its decision of suspending all India service officers three months after the suspension. While Srilakshmi was suspended from service on December 1, 2011, the government took a similar action against Mr Acharya on February 1 this year.
Though it had been more than three months, the state government took the view that they were still in jail and the deemed clause for revoking suspension would not apply to them.
“The two officers are only out on bail and we have to seek a clarification from the Centre,” the official said. Sources also said the government might have to take two different stands on Acharya and Srilakshmi.
