Baby rejected by 4 hospitals battles for life

A newborn baby boy is battling for his life at the MGM hospital in Warangal after molten candle wax fell on him on Friday morning. The baby was first taken to a private hospital which, shockingly, denied treatment because of the severe burn injuries.

Constant power cuts and badly equipped hospitals could well lead to the death of the baby boy currently battling for his life in a hospital his distraught parents finally managed to get him admitted to after four others turned down the severely injured patient in Andhra Pradesh.

According S. Janaki Ramaiah and Padma, parents of the baby, they went to sleep at 10 pm on Thursday night at Bandarugudem. As there was no power, the baby woke up and started crying at around midnight.

To calm him, his mother lighted a candle and put it on the edge of a wooden cot.

Unfortunately, the candle slipped, fell on the bedclothes, and set them on fire, injuring the baby severely. The baby was taken to a private hospital which, shockingly, denied treatment because of the severe burn injuries.

The boy was then refused treatment at the Bhadrachalam government area hospital, the Khammam district headquarters hospital and the Mamatha Medical College Hospital before he was admitted to the MGM hospital in Warangal where he is battling for his life.

The pathetic state of district hospitals and the callous attitude of doctors in these hospitals show up the failure of the public health system in the state.
