Bay trough aids monsoon winds
With the South-West monsoon already having crossed Kerala, and a trough being formed over Bay of Bengal, the chances of monsoon reaching North Coastal AP in the next two days has strengthened. In Vizag, the weathermen on Monday said that a trough had formed 3-5 km away from the coast over the Bay of Bengal. “It is a good sign of monsoon’s arrival. Apart from bringing down the temperature, the trough has a role in influencing the wind direction of South-West monsoon.” Cyclone Warning Centre officials said.
Meanwhile, isolated rainfall across coastal AP and Telangana brought much-needed relief, but dry weather continued to prevail over Rayalaseema. On Sunday, the maximum temperatures changed a little over Rayalaseema, but fell markedly at one or two places over coastal AP and Telangana. The maximum temperature of 440C was recorded at Rentachintala, informed Met department officials.
The rainfall recorded in Ramgundam was 5 cm, while Huzurabad recorded 4 cm rainfall, and Dubak, Manthani and Warangal got 2 cm of rainfall each. One cm rainfall was recorded in Siricilla, Adilabad, Sultanabad, Nizamabad, Hanamkonda , Rudrur, Kampasagar. Places in coastal Andhra like Kakinada, Tadepalligudem, Tanuku and Peddapuram too recorded one cm rainfall each. “In the next 24 hours, light rain is likely in coastal AP. Isolated rain is expected in Telangana and Rayalaseema,” met director G. Sudhakar Rao said. The sky would be cloudy. Rain or thundershowers are expected in parts of the city.
