Bharati to reign over Jagan firms
With the arrest of her husband Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and possibility of him languishing in jail for an indefinite term, 33-year-old Y.S. Bharati Reddy is all set to take up the reins of the family business empire.
Ms Reddy will now have to deal with the day-to-day affairs of Sakshi newspaper and channel, besides Bharati Cements, a cement manufacturing company named after her. In fact, she has been taking active role in running the business affairs of the companies by regularly attending office for more than a year. Today, Ms Reddy shuttles between the Sakshi and Bharati Cements offices, interacts with top executives of the companies as well as look after her two daughters.
Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother Y.S. Vijayalakshmi and sister Sharmila Reddy are looking after the political campaign. Ms Reddy, a post graduate in business administration, said that she would now play a bigger role in the businesses though she has been involved in running the corporate affairs albeit in a different way. “Actually, I have always been part of the businesses. For the past one-and-a-half years, since he (Jagan Mohan Reddy) had no time, I have been playing a bigger role in business,” she said. Dismissing allegations of corruption surrounding her husband, she said all businesses of the family “are run like an open book”.
