Birthday turns sour as girl falls to death
Birthday celebrations in a family turned sour when the eldest sister of the birthday boy fell to her death from their apartment building late on Saturday at Kamatipura, under Mangalhat police station limits. The day began on a festive note in the home of Griraj Vyas, a small businessman, at Durganiketan Apartments. The family was celebrating the second birthday of Anmul Vyas, the third child of Vyas. But their happiness was short-lived. The eldest daughter, Pooja Vyas, 15, slipped and fell from the balcony of the flat on the fourth floor.
The family rushed her to the nearest hospital immediately, but they were informed by the hospital authorities that the girl’s condition was serious and were advised to rush her to Osmania General Hospital. It was too late, however. The OGH doctors declared that the girl was brought dead. Sub-Inspector L. Badraiah said the parents of the girl gave a statement that their daughter slipped and accidentally fell from the balcony. Based on the statement by the parents, police registered a case of accidental death and shifted the body to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Later the girl’s body was handed over to the family. Pooja Vyas was a Class 9 student of Grammar School, Abids, the police said.
