BJP Candidate gets notice for communal talk

The Election Comm-ission has issued a show cause notice to BJP’s Mahbubnagar Assembly candidate Y. Srinivas Reddy for flaring up communal passions.

Issuing the notice on Thursday the EC gave 24 hours to Mr Reddy to explain why his candidature should not be cancelled.

Returning officer B. Rajesham said that Reddy and BJP leaders had made communal remarks against the TRS candidate on March 5 and 12.

“BJP leaders Dr Laxman and Ale Narendra said that the TRS has fielded a Muslim and if he wins, Mahabubnagar will become an Old City and that Razakar rule will come back.”

Taking this into account, the Election Commission has issued showcause notice to BJP candidate to explain within 24 hours. If he fails to do so, we will take appropriate actions based on the records and evidences available with us," Mr Rajesham said.
