Botsa: Decision on fee reimbursement not final
PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana on Wednesday reassured students from Backward Classes over the fee reimbursement scheme and told them justice would be done to them at the time of Engineering counseling. Talking to newsmen in Delhi, the PCC chief said a lot of issues were interlinked with the fee reimbursement scheme. He added that the government had not taken a final decision on the modalities of the scheme. “The government will have to increase its college strength and at the same time, private colleges should be made to fall in line with the government policy. We should not allow private colleges to take us for a ride,” Mr Satyanaraya-na said.
Referring to both High Court and Supreme Court orders on the fee reimbursement scheme as well as on common fee structure, he admitted it wasn’t easy for the government to satisfy everyone. The PCC chief said the government would have to avoid reimbursing fees to those students who were not qualified, who did not have the requisite attendance or pass percentage. However, Mr Satyanar-ayana could not answer whether the government would extend fee reimbursement to BCs and EBCs on par with SCs and STs. He merely said, “We have not finalised anything. It will take a little more time.”
