Boy told to do 50 sit-ups, dies 3 days later

A Class X student died on Thursday after he was allegedly beaten and punished by his teacher who made him do 50 sit ups. According to the Madannapet police, Md Ismail Hussain of the Royal Embassy High School developed muscle cramps and high fever following the corporal punishment handed out by his class teacher, Ms Mubeena. The boy died while undergoing treatment in a hospital on Thursday. The police has registered a case against Ms Mubeena under Section 304A of the IPC (causing death by negligence). However, no arrest has been made.
