Bus mows down girl

In a tragic accident, a five-year-old girl was mowed down by a mini bus on Tuesday morning at Kandukur junction. K. Akshaya, daughter of K. Mallesh, a resident of Kandukur, was waiting for her school bus when the accident took place. According to Kandukur police inspector S. Chakr-apani, the mini bus, with a few passengers from Hyderabad, was on its way to Srisailam when the incident occurred at arou-nd 8.45 am. “Akshaya was standing near the road waiting for her school bus when the mini bus veered off the road and mowed her down,” he said.

The girl died on the spot due to severe head injur-i-es. The police said the bus driver lost control of the speeding bus which went off the road and hit the kid. He ran away from the spot leaving the vehicle and passengers behind. Akshaya was a Class I student of Saint Joseph School in Kandukur. The bus, which belongs to a private travel agency in Karnataka, has been confiscated and a case has been booked against the bus driver under section 304A for causing death due to negligence.
