CBI quizzes Jagan aides
Three close associates of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, including owner of MBS Jewellers Sukesh Gupta, were questioned by the CBI at their Koti office on Tuesday. Apart from Mr Gupta, Congress MLA from Kakinada Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy and editorial director of Sakshi newspaper Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy were questioned. Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy, who had recently met Y.S. Vijayalakshmi while campaigning, was quizzed about transactions of land belonging to Janani Infrastructure Private Ltd, one of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s firms. All of Sakshi’s buildings are in Janani’s name and the CBI is looking into allegations that the Congress MLA had played a key role in buying the plots and assets for Janani.
Mr Gupta, meanwhile, was questioned till late evening regarding allegations that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had stakes in his firm Musaddilal Bhagwat Swaroop Jewellers. In 2010, income-tax officials had searched the premises of MBS Jewellers in the city and other parts of state. The company has two branches in the city and one each in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. During the interrogation, investigating officials confronted Mr Gupta with a copy of the I-T department report on the searches. Meanwhile, Mr Ramakrishna Reddy was asked about the alleged overvaluation of Jagati Publications Ltd by the audit firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd. He was also asked about advertisements in Sakshi.
