CBI will investigate IMG, TD regime transactions
The roads and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao did not exercise his option of filing for anticipatory bail and challenging the summons in a higher court. After appearing before the court, he can take a certified copy of the chargesheet and file a quash petition in the High Court, stating that no case has been made out against him. The minister can also file a petition in the CBI court asking that the court discharge him from the case.
In the Vanpic conspiracy case, where Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy has been accused of making illegal investments, the CBI has filed chargesheets against the YSRC president, who is Accused No. 1 and his auditor Vijay Sai Reddy. Industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, the then infrastructure minister Mopidevi Venkataraman and Mr Prasada Rao, who is Accused No. 5, have also been charged.
Others who have been chargesheeted by the CBI are K.V. Brahmananda Reddy, IAS officers Manmohan Singh and Mr M. Samuel (who are Accused No. 7 and 8 respectively) and Nimmagadda Prakash (Accused No. 9). Vanpic Projects, Jagati Publications, Raghuram Cements, Carmel Asia Holdings and Silicon Builders, which are owned by some of the accused, are also named. Mr Prasada Rao also is accused of criminal conspiracy.
