CID to probe how Dantuluri got passport
Having learnt that alleged gangster and extortionist Dantuluri Krishna had got a passport from Hyderabad RPO in 2009, based on police verification by Kadapa district police, the CID will now probe how he managed to acquire it despite multiple criminal cases against him. The investigators would also zoom in on the role of the district police, which gave the go-ahead with the verification, sources said.
Krishna, who comes from Pulivendula, is accused of being involved in the 2001 suitcase bomb case, and also embroiled in several other cases under the Arms Act. CID investigations have also found that Krishna smuggled foreign-made small arms through Old Mangalore port in Karnataka, and supplied them to Maddalacheruvu Suri and Bhanu Kiran’s gang. Sources said Krishna has confessed to his involvement in various extortion and land settlement cases, and also revealed details of the arms smuggling route.
“One Sudhakar Naidu and one Seena of the Red Star group supplied foreign firearms to Krishna, who in turn gave them to Bhanu and Suri’s gang,” a CID investigator revealed. According to the source, the gang was involved in several extortion cases and bought properties illegally. Krishna was produced before the VI Special Magistrate at Nampally court and sent to judicial remand to Cherlapally till June 6. He denied any links with Bhanu Kiran. He also said that he was being made a political target.
