City mall sealed after inauguration
A day after Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu inaugurated the South India Shopping Mall at Kukatpally, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials sealed the mall on Friday for not obtaining an occupancy certificate.
GHMC chief city planner G.V. Raghu said A.V. Krishnam Raju and others had obtained permission to construct a commercial complex with two cellars and five upper floors on Plot No. 17 to 20 in Survey No. 166/part of Kukatpally on May 3, 2010.
The chief city planner said that though the building owner had applied for an occupancy certificate on September 22, 2012, it was rejected.
“A road widening portion for a 100-feet road was not left on the ground and is still kept in his possession. An electric transformer has been erected on the road widening portion.
Even the cellar and sub-cellar constructed are in deviation of the setback rules towards the 100-feet road.
The setback of building on the rear side is in deviation of the sanctioned plan. The building is still incomplete in terms of bye-law No. 13,” Mr Raghu said.
The GHMC, in view of the fact that the building is occupied without proper occupancy certificate has initiated action by sealing the premises.
