City sees heavy rains again on Wednesday
The city received a good amount of rainfall on Wednesday afternoon for a couple of hours, but the downside was water logging in different parts of the city. Around 6.5 mm rainfall was recorded till 5.30 pm. The Met department predicts more rain in the coming days from the south-west monsoon.
The duty officer at the Met department, Mr Ram Subramaniyam, said, “The monsoon has picked up and good rains are indicated in Telangana and Coastal Andhra regions, though the rains are a little less over Rayalaseema. The weekly weighted average rainfall over the state is 51.7 mm, while the normal measurement is 47 mm. In Coastal AP, the rainfall is more or less normal.” The actual seasonal rainfall so far in the state is 246.3 mm, just one per cent less than the normal of 249.2 mm. Rainfall over Coastal AP is 244.6 mm, a little above the normal of 233 mm.
The Rayalaseema region has received 138 mm so far, which is under the normal 142 mm. The Telangana region has also received less rainfall — 311 mm against the normal 324 mm. The Met department said that on an average, rainfall has been more or less normal in AP and is likely to be so in coming days.
