CM, Botsa told to bury hatchet
The Congress central leadership does not want to disturb the present set-up in the state leadership by taking sides in the feud between PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
This seems to be the message from the meeting that former PCC chief D. Srinivas had with Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday. Mr Satyanarayana and the CM have been told to bury the hatchet and work together to face the challenges ahead. Should they fail to do so, the central leadership will have to step in and take corrective measures, they were warned.
The CM and Mr Satyanarayana will be in Delhi on Wednesday to meet the party’s central leadership. Sources in Delhi told this correspondent that the party high command is dissatisfied with the way the two key leaders in the state have developed differences at a time when the party is facing a crisis on account of the byelections, and local body elections that lie ahead. At the same time, the central leaders do not want to rock the boat at this stage by making any changes in the leadership and will likely hold their hand at least till the byelections to 18 Assemb-ly and the Nellore Lok Sabha seats. But it is still not known how the party leadership is going to sort out the differences between the two important leaders that surfaced with the controversial raids by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and subsequent investigations of liquor shops owned by the PCC president’s relatives.
