CM may not favour 2nd term for CS
A major reshuffle is likely to take place in the state administration, right from the top, following the retirement of chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi at the end of this month. With Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy not keen to give Mr Dwivedi an extension, chief commissioner of land administration, Minnie Mathews, could become the next chief secretary. Sources told this newspaper that the Governor, whose views are of great significance in the present dispensation, is also not in favour of extending Mr Dwivedi’s tenure.
Two seniors bureaucrats, G. Sudhir (special CS, health), and S. Bhale Rao (special CS, animal husbandry), will also retire along with Mr Dwivedi. Choosing the next chief commissioner of land administration may be more difficult than picking a new chief secretary, sources close to the CM pointed out. “The people who matter in the administration are not comfortable with the available choices,” sources added. The government has to pick a chief commissioner from Chaya Ratan, M. Samuel, Shafiquzzaman and I.Y.R. Krishna Rao. The Chief Minister is likely to fill about a dozen posts of principal secretary and below after the end of the election process on Friday. Several important posts such as principal secretary of industries, commissioner for technical education, secretary of the Board of Interm-ediate Education, commissioner, stamps and registration, commissioner panchayat raj, are vacant.
