CM quotes Harvard: Investors bet on AP

Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh are fast turning out to be the most sought-after destinations for all international conferences and investments. This is an indication, says Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, of the progress and development taking place in the city and the state.

Speaking at the inauguration of the All-India general council meeting of the Builders' Association of India on Saturday, Mr Reddy said AP had emerged as the most investment-driven and investment-friendly state in the country. The state had been chosen for the “Investment Driven Economies Award” in India's most competitive states awards-2012 initiative. The award has been constituted by the Institute for Competitiveness (India), the Indian wing of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at the Harvard Business School. “Recently, information was released by Harvard Business School that our state is most investment-friendly in India,” Mr Reddy said.

Stating that the partnership summit held a few months ago had seen investment deals worth Rs 6.50 lakh crore being signed, Mr Reddy explained that this was a reflection of the progressive policies being offered in AP. On Hyderabad becoming the destination for all international conferences, the chief minister said after the recent partnership summit, the city would host the world bio-diversity conference (COP-11) to be held in October. The presidents, prime ministers and heads of various nations would attend the conference. The COP-11 was said to be the biggest conference event to be held in India after Independence. Over 8,000 delegates were expected to participate, Mr Reddy said.
