CM sanctions Rs 600 cr to buy power
After reviewing the power situation in the state, the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, announced the release of Rs 600 crore within a week to purchase power form outside sources.
He directed APTransco officials to ensure seven-hour power supply to the agricultural sector at all costs.
The CM said the ground realities in some areas in the state are different and there are problems in power supply even to the agriculture sector. He asked official to sort out the problems by visiting villages.
The CM also directed the finance department to consider the immediate requirements of APTransco.
The CM also reviewed power generation, distribution, coal supply, water levels in reservoirs, hydel power generation, power supply from the NTPC and future action plans.
Reviewing the status of wind and solar power generation, the CM asked officials to explore all possibilities for buying power in small quantities from wherever it is available.
Meanwhile, the CM will write to the Centre to restore the 1,400 MW power supply from NTPC to AP as NTPC shortages had hit the state badly.
Coal supply to NTPC from Talcheru increased from 6 rakes to 9 rakes but the average shortage per day is still high at 59.46 mu.
