CM seeks note on Vanpic, media in a tizzy
Chief Minister Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday sought a report from the Infrastructure and Investment department on the controversial Vadarevu Nizampatnam Ports Industrial Corridor.
The CM called I&I secretary Sunil Sarma to his office in the afternoon and had a brief talk on Vanpic. Sources said he only asked for a detailed note on the project and its present status. The government sources, however, repeated the “leaking of information” to media as was done in Rakshana Steels on Monday.
The media managers informed the television news channels that the CM took steps to cancel the Vanpic project and held a high-level meeting with the officials concerned. Following this, some TV channels highlighted the Vanpic project, the issue of oustees and the benefits they get due to cancellation of the project. The news relating to Vanpic is of significance as some of the project areas fall in Ongole constituency which went for by polls on Tuesday. The government which waited till now on the Vanpic tried to give an impression on the polling day that the project would be cancelled.
