Colleges told to stagger timings by RTC
The Road Transport Corporation has asked professional colleges in the city and its suburbs to stagger timings in a bid to cater to the huge rush of students, especially those headed for institutions located on the outskirts.
There are more than 100 professional colleges in peripheral areas of the city, with approximately 4 lakh students commuting to these institutions every day.
About 80 per cent of these students travel by RTC-run buses. Since the colleges have similar timings, there is a huge rush during the college hours and many students fail to get their buses, RTC top officials said.
