Comparisons stall second marriages
Second marriages do not always work out as experts say that new partners invariably start comparing events in previous marriages with their current relationships. This is what precisely happened to Hamsa (name changed). Her divorcee fiancé ditched her just before the wedding because he started drawing parallels between her behaviour with his first wife’s.
Hamsa, an MBA working for a prestigious firm, is herself a divorcee. Her counsel Gopal Krishna Kalanidhi said, “In 2011 her parents found a UK-based divorcee CA through a matrimony site. There was a formal engagement and the wedding was fixed for December 2011 and he came to India for two-three months during which he posed several questions for assessing her reactions,” said Mr Kalanidhi, adding, “Even the girl started drawing certain parallels when the man, like her alienated husband, did not pay bills in a five star hotel where he took her for dinner.” The case of Anjana (name changed) is similar, the only difference is that she herself called off the wedding after a courtship of three years. “I realised he was very similar to my ex-husband. I could not put myself through all that again,” she said.
